For editing our clips we had filmed we used iMovie06. This software had its advantages and disadvantages.
Some advantages were that it let us transform our film opening into black and white easily, this gave it that 1940s vintage look, but we debated weather keeping it in colour because the colours worked nicely as well. We choose to use the black and white filter because it made the film look more authentic. This software also allowed us to put music onto our film opening, we found the music on a free play website and downloaded it and copied it into iMovie and edit to were we wanted it, for example we wanted it quieter when we had the voices over. It also allowed us to include an audio voice over with the 'extract audio' function, we then put this over three shots at the end and to include our film title name, production company logo and cast names, this can be done by using the visualise tool which lets you create text on a range of backgrounds.
Some disadvantages are that while importing it had to "Letterbox" which took along time and made us behind in our editing. iMovie didn't have a filter which would change our film to a 'sepia' tone, this is disappointing because it would have worked well with our genre well. Another problem with iMovie 06 is that you cant cut down the frames of the shots, one shot we wanted to use had people in the conservatoire so we had to discard it, which was a shame because we would have like to have used it.
