For our main character we have used our friend Brooke Shipley who takes A Level drama. We choose her to be our main character because we thought she had that 1940s look and would act the role really well. She acted very well and gave us a range of facial expressions which brought life to the film opening and with it having little dialogue we needed emphasis on the facial expressions so the audience can sense the mood of the scene.
To make her look older we gave her a 1940s hair-do which we learnt from a tutorial on YouTube and had seen on Keria Knightley in The Edge Of Love (2008), we also gave her red lipstick and pale face powder to give her a more mature look.

Having a central female protagonist would attract a female audience and having a young actress would attract a younger audience. For example The Notebooks main actress, Rachel McAdams is in her 20s which would attract a younger audience, also because she's stared in the teen comedy Mean Girls but it also attracted an older audience because its a best selling novel and has mature themes in it because of the main characters being in there 70s towards the end and the she has memory loss.

Also the fact that its world war 2 will attract an older audience.
There is also a man in our film, but only a few seconds who gives our main character the letter, signifying he's not a main character in the story. However the letter he is delivering is very important to the story and having it posted by a man in the army signifies her husband has been to war and that in most war movies they receive the news of there partners death this way.
